Concrete Jobs is seeking a Project Engineer in Utah.

Description:

The Project Engineer will be involved in all design aspects of precast concrete structures and components.  Projects range from interstate highway bridges to commercial and manufacturing facilities.  The company also designs and produces a full line of architectural precast and glass fiber reinforced concrete cladding systems. This position complies with all safety regulations and adhere to the company’s OSHA safety guidelines. 

Essential Functions:

• Actively support and adhere to the company’s health and safety, quality and environmental compliance programs.
• Engineer, submit and project manage structural designs and submittals including reinforcing, connections, and handling calculations including transportation and erection.  Review of shop drawings and submittals.  Perform additional engineering for fabrication or field related non-conformances or other issues.
• Perform engineering to assist sales and estimating departments and support production and operations such as handling and lifting devices, prestressing equipment, forming, etc.
• Support sales group for promotion, design, specifications, installation and problem resolution.
• Support sales group when making calls to engineering consulting firms, counties and cities.
• Management of project needs provided by each team member involved including project managers, drafters, estimators, architects, engineers, contractors, and production personnel.
• Analysis and design of precast structures, components, and connections.
• Review and check of drawings for accuracy and compliance with design and engineering intent.
• Respond to, design of, and coordination of, shop and field inquiries and repairs.
• Coordination with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and field personnel as required ensuring success of projects.
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE7, ACI318, PCI, AISC, AWS building codes and specifications.
• Anticipate potential problems and respond to discovered problems, develop a solution and communicate directly with the customer to achieve an agreeable outcome.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Prefer registration as a Professional Engineer and ability to become registered in multiple states.
• Minimum 5 plus years’ industry experience and experience in the design of precast concrete, reinforced concrete and steel. Management/Supervisory experience a plus.
• Works as an effective and proactive team player; understands the importance of supporting our customers and sales team.
• Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
• Must possess organization, prioritization and proactive problem solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to present oneself and communicate in a professional, positive, and courteous manner at all times with customers and all levels of employees.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and database.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MathCAD, Concise, RISA-3D, or other precast concrete software.  Finite element analysis is a plus.
• Demonstrated pattern of positive attitude, strong work ethic and dedication.
• Ability to remain focused while handling several items at one time.
• Ability to provide clear and concise written and spoken instructions along with the ability to ask questions to understand points made by others.
