POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform engineering duties in designing of structural concrete components and their connects, and overseeing the construction for institutional and commercial building projects.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Designs structural concrete components and their connections applying engineering principles and analysis.
2. Manages the engineering phase of a construction project interfacing with sales, estimating, project management, and operations, as well as the general contractor and architect / engineer.
3. The engineering and detailing work may be either performed by the individual along with other internal personnel or by an outside design firm.
4. Responsible for the design and/or coordination of portions of more complex projects under the supervision of a more experienced engineer as assigned.
5. Inspect s field sit es on projects to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, as assigned. This will include writing Inspection Reports along with development and tracking of field repairs.
6. Engage with Production and Quality Control to address and resolve conflicts, buildability or other issues encountered during fabrication involving a higher-level engineer when necessary.
7. May lead one or two designers on a project to project basis
8. Perform additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution with emphasis in structural engineer in g. 2+ years of experience. Having passed FE exam preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Familiar with CAD and 3-D solid modeling software preferred.
• Proficiency with using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Must possess sufficient interpersonal skill s
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
• Must have a strong understanding of engineering principles and ability to apply them to solving design problems involving prestressed members and their connections.
• Must have firm understanding of building code requirements and their app li cat ion .
• Requires at least rudimentary under standing of determination of lateral loads and their resistance by the structural system.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
